A new Southern European bistro named Garth has been added to Dubai’s fine dining venues. Garth is located in The 9 Lounge, a new private membership club in the Kempinski Mall of the UAE. It serves a mix of Italian, Greek and Southern French cuisine.

Garth’s interior design is just a few steps away from the hotel’s entrance, using timeless neutral tones in cream, beige and brown tones, complemented by pink furniture and plush pampas grass on the windows and bar canopy. Outside is a spacious terrace with lounge seating and the chill beats of a DJ spinning, while the indoor restaurant offers affectionate piano music from highly skilled artists.

Highlights:

It’s a beautiful day, and the breeze is blowing. We found comfortable seats on the terrace, and when we sipped hibiscus tea and the orange-infused creative mixture, the cheerful tunes added to the laid-back atmosphere.

Soon thereafter, it was dinner time, and the warm bread basket and seafood butter provided a pleasant entrance for our culinary journey. The menu is the creation of celebrity chefs Sergei Andreychenko and Mohammed Musthafa.

The evening culinary experience includes a selection of dishes from the Garth kitchen. A portion of sea bass ceviche made with coconut tiger milk, topped with popcorn (yes, popcorn) and chili, was brought to our table from the raw bar. Then came a Greek salad, topped with Uzbek tomatoes, Greek feta, cucumber, peppers, Kalamata olives, capers, croutons and a little Greek dressing; beef tartare with capers and chives, topped with rich flavor Mustard sauce, served with brioche. Look forward to the flavor burst of every bite and sharing part. It is worth mentioning separately Zucchini Carpaccio, which has soft thin slices spread on a plate and topped with conte cheese, mint and hoisin sauce.

We took a breath at this point; and went back to the terrace. It’s so cute, we decided to continue dining outdoors. My dining partner is addicted to beef cheek pacheri with slow-cooked chunks of meat, veal gravy and parmesan cheese; while I chose poached sea bass with potato confit, tomatoes and olive sauce. Now we did just share the four appetizers between us, but when the main course appeared, we couldn’t resist sneaking in.

The dessert section includes classic tiramisu and Basque baked cheesecake with pistachios, which completes the evening perfectly.
