The St. Regis Downtown Dubai, located along the Dubai Canal at Business Bay, has launched a hot new brunch on the open-air terrace of its Italian restaurant Basta.
Each on-site restaurant features a live station, and you can expect to find irresistible Italian tapas at Basta, Mediterranean cuisine at Bleu Blanc and decadent pastries and sweets at The Library. The afternoon event also incorporates the traditions and rituals of the St. Regis brand, offering unlimited tomato blends and sparkling wines. Live performances by Gari Deegan and Khalil B took center stage, and impressive music set the tone for a spectacular afternoon.
We got there shortly after it started and were pleasantly surprised to see the St. Regis Brunch in Downtown Dubai was in full swing.
Highlights:
In true brunch fashion, we opted to start with a strong pick-me-up, opting for a truffle-infused Italian mix with orange zest, a delightful sbagliato (meaning wrong), paired with sparkling grapes and sparkling wine. Perfectly presented, wonderful sips arrived quickly; after tasting them, we knew we were off to a good start.
If you prefer a juniper-flavored drink, you’ll be happy to know that brunch offers a full cart dedicated to clear distilled liquids. Not only that, but you can choose from signature blends featuring ginger, lemon, blood orange, and more; as well as spirits, grapes, and hops. Fruit juices, carbonated drinks and mocktails such as 0% gin, basil liqueur and elderflower soda; and the Magnificent of 0% rum, velvet falernum and ginger ale for a refreshing boost.
Next, we go around the setup to map our brunch. Fresh shucked oysters platter with balsamic vinegar and lemon slices; cold seafood with lobster, shrimp, mussels, crab and all sides; those with sushi and sashimi took over our table. A hedonistic experience awaits us, and we couldn’t be happier.
As with any brunch, it’s best to pace yourself because you can fill up quickly. So we did – swinging to the music, savouring delicious food when hunger hit, enjoying our drinks, plus good company and good conversation.
The DIY taco stand beckons, a call I can’t resist. After stacking your plates high, head to the pizza section for cheese-packed carbs, then to the cold car for toast and indulgent bolognese. Cold salads and dips complete a range of appetizers.
The main course calls for paella, house-made pasta finished in a dazzling roulette of Parmigiano-Reggiano (always a treat to watch) and juicy rotisserie, roasted whole in saliva superior. Don’t forget to grab side dishes like corn on the cob, Brussels sprouts, baked potatoes, and nutrient-dense vegetables. The classic sausages (sausages) also came along, along with other succulent meats, offering a plethora of options for all.
If you have a place for more snacks, if you are craving some aromatic curry, you are in luck. Brunch features spiced gravy, kebabs and flatbread.
Before going indoors, take a break and enjoy a meal to satisfy your sweet tooth. Offers a wide variety of cuisines, from cheese, fruit and biscuits to biscuits, cakes and puddings.
