Homemade Margarita Pizza Recipe | Little Luna

Margherita Pizza features fresh basil, mozzarella cheese and the best ripe tomatoes as the main characters. It is simple, delicious and light.

This pizza has similar flavor characteristics and ingredients to Caprese Pizza. Must try the bite-sized version: Mini Margarita Pizza.

What is Margherita Pizza?

Traditional Margarita pizza ingredients are mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce and basil. It is simple and fresh. The sauce is sweet and fragrant, more like a marira/spaghetti sauce. The crust is delicious, full of Neapolitan-style charred bubbles-definitely a favorite!

Fresh tomato sauce, chewy mozzarella cheese, and basil sprinkled on the crispy crust? Yes, please! We like this simple classic. Fresh mozzarella cheese is a must!

This homemade pizza looks like high-end restaurant quality slices, but it is effortless to make. It is one of my favorites so far, so be sure to give it a try!

How to make a Margherita pizza

Prepare. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees. We like to use pizza stones and put them in when the oven is preheated for at least 15 minutes.

Sauces and dough. If it is homemade, just make the sauce. In addition, if you want to make homemade pizza dough, please make homemade pizza dough. If you use the two purchased in the store, you can skip this step.

roll. Roll the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to about 14-15 inches in diameter. **If you want more crust, be sure to fold the outer edges of the pizza dough before adding the sauce and toppings.

Pizza Stone: If using a pizza stone, quickly and carefully transfer the dough to the stone, add the sauce (leave a little on the edges for the crust), cheese slices, tomatoes and pizza seasoning, and put it in the oven.

Pan: If you don’t use stone, you can add the rolled dough to a lightly greased baking pan. Then, add sauce, cheese, toppings and bake.

bake. Bake for about 5 minutes, then rotate the pizza and bake for another 7-8 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Garnish with fresh basil.

Recipe tips

Pizza plate: Using pizza stone is my first choice, but any pizza plate can be used. Be sure to cook in a very hot oven and consider blindly baking the crust.

Blind roast Great for ensuring that the center of the crust is cooked and does not get wet. This is especially useful when using ingredients that tend to shed tears such as mozzarella cheese and tomatoes. Shape the dough and bake for about 6 minutes without topping. Remove the dough from the oven, add the ingredients, and continue baking until the pizza is cooked through.

cheese: When using fresh mozzarella cheese, try to absorb as much moisture as possible before topping the pizza

Sauce: Using a lighter layer of sauce will help make the pizza crisper.

Storage tips

Frozen pizza: Pizza has many great places, one of which is that you can put it in the refrigerator and bake it later.

Bake a regular pizza crust blindly for 6-8 minutes. Let the pizza cool slightly and add the ingredients, then put it in the refrigerator. Once the solids are frozen, wrap the pizza in plastic wrap and then wrap it in aluminum foil.

Freeze for 4-5 months. Remove the packaging and thaw for about 30 minutes before baking.

Leftovers: Store the remaining pizza foil in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. You can also freeze it for 1-2 months. Just wrap each piece in plastic wrap, and then wrap it in foil for 1-2 months. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
