tip of the week

Christmas dinner may be the biggest meal of the year! It’s a great way to share traditions and time with family or friends. Food is an important part of creating these traditions and memories!

In my family we always get together on Christmas Eve for dinner (Mexican food is always on the books). All my siblings got together and we had a fun night with games and good food.

So, to help you have a lighthearted week, we’ve put together tips for planning, prep, and of course, we’ve covered all the dishes you might want to include in your Christmas dinner!

found all here! Merry Christmas!

Meal Plan Benefits

There’s nothing worse than fear when family members ask, “What’s for dinner?” And your answer is “I don’t know”. A week meal plan eliminates that completely, and it’s the number one benefit in my book!

In addition to developing a game plan, there are Several other benefits meal planinclude:

  • cost: When you have a plan and a specific grocery list in place, you can eliminate the cost of wasting on impulse items or products you never use.
  • reduce waste: No money wasted, no food wasted! Having a regular shopping list will help avoid both problems.
  • type: Our meal plans specifically include a variety of options, including Mexican, Italian, dinner breakfast, and more! You can let your family taste a variety of cuisines.
  • No indecision: Did you know there is “indecision fatigue”? The idea is that when you can’t decide something (like what to do for dinner), it actually wears you out mentally. But when dinner is already planned, you can avoid indecision altogether!
  • healthy: When you plan/anticipate making well-rounded meals, you’re more likely to actually make them than to default to a convenient box lunch or unhealthy fast food!

As you can see, meal planning has many benefits!

beef patty

Tortillas filled with meat and cheese and fried to perfection! Crispy and delicious flautas are a delicious dinner for everyone!

Sometimes we like to use leftover baking pans from Sunday for stuffing, or if we don’t have one on hand, we’ll make chicken pancakes instead. Either way, you have to serve them with guacamole and salsa.

Italian Wedding Soup

This classic Italian wedding soup is hearty and comes together in no time, filled with mini meatballs, carrots, escarole, orzo, and more. It’s so easy to throw together for the perfect weeknight dinner!

You can’t have soup without bread, and this week’s planned sourdough dinner rolls go with this soup!

Christmas Breakfast Casserole

Quick and easy Christmas breakfast casserole full of savory flavors. The best part is that it doesn’t require a lot of ingredients…or time! !

This breakfast casserole is the perfect way to feed your vacation guests in the morning (or breakfast dinner)! Serve with fresh fruit or a yogurt parfait.

chicken skewers

This homemade chicken salad is perfect for dinner any night of the week. It’s full of flavor and done in 40 minutes!

If you have any leftover sourdough dinner rolls from Tuesday, you can serve them with this stroganoff too!

honey ham

Our favorite holiday ham recipe. Simply place the spiral-cut ham in the crock pot, cover with the 5-ingredient glaze, and in 4 hours, you’ll have a tender and juicy honey-glazed ham!

This one is a honey glaze, but you can also swap out the glaze for brown sugar ham. We love to have baked potatoes twice on our Christmas ham (an aspect of this week’s plan)!

Our two choices

After having these Twice Baked Potatoes, you’ll never want regular baked potatoes again! These super easy potatoes are loaded with sour cream, cheese, bacon and seasoning!

These are the perfect companion for your holiday ham this week! Although, if you don’t have the oven space for these potatoes, you can always use crock pot roast potatoes instead!
