Easy Cobb Salad Recipe | Little Luna

Filled with delicious ingredients, this easy Cobb Salad is literally a meal. It’s quick to make and delicious.

This is one of my favorite salads so far. It’s so fulfilling. I like to drizzle mine with homemade ranch dressing, but you could easily use homemade caesar dressing or cilantro dressing to mix it up!

What is Cobb Salad?

Cobb salad is a main course American garden salad, usually made with chopped salad greens. I say main course because this stuff is packed! !

Both A Chef Salad and Cobb Salad contain lettuce, cheese and bacon, meats like chicken breast and ham, and hard-boiled eggs. But Cobb salads are usually mixed with lettuce, as well as avocado and tomatoes.

Classic Cobb Salad is one of my all-time favorite salads. This is the perfect salad for dinner because it has so much more than just veggies.

This version uses cheddar, but blue cheese is also a popular addition to this salad. The best part is that you can add or change it to make it your own!

Cobb Salad Ingredients

You can change or omit any of the toppings to your liking, but here are all the toppings you need for this salad!

  • avocado slices
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • cherry tomato halves
  • diced chicken breast
  • cooked corn
  • crumbled bacon
  • chopped boiled eggs
  • onion sprinkled on top

Assemble the salad, Wash vegetables and dry. Serve on a large plate or a large bowl. Layer toppings, then sprinkle with scallions. Serve with a good quality ranch dressing (we prefer homemade ranch!).

Variety

It is said that this famous salad was created by accident. Innkeeper Robert Cobb got hungry one night and put together a salad with the ingredients he had on hand at the inn. The combination was delicious and the Cobb Salad was born.

Since he tossed this salad with what he had on hand, I figured you could too. If you have an ingredient that isn’t part of a traditional Cobb salad, go ahead and add it.

  • lettuce: We used romaine lettuce, you can use any green lettuce you have on hand or a mixture of them. Some favorites include: iceberg, green leaves, butter, spinach, arugula
  • Chick: Roasted, grilled, roasted, or from a can…any cooked chicken you eat will do. You can also use turkey. If you prefer to use pork or beef, you absolutely can!
  • other products: In addition to signature avocados, you can add or subtract your favorite products. In addition to what we used in this recipe, you can add broccoli florets, cauliflower florets, cold peas, celery, etc…
  • What about croutons? This delicious salad addition isn’t usually a Cobb salad ingredient, but if you like them, go ahead and add them.

go ahead

can make a cobb salad 2-3 hours in advance. I would slice the avocado until just before serving as it will brown quickly. Also, save the dressing to add just before serving. Cover the assembled salad with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator.

If you want to prepare this dish ahead of time, I recommend Store different ingredients in different containers Store in the refrigerator until you’re ready to assemble the salad.
