Perfect for spring and Easter!
I love that I can serve these cookies for any holiday or any season. Just swap out the M&Ms for your favorites! My favorite is the almond M&Ms, so I like to sneak in as much as possible.
These chewy cookies are packed with chocolate flavor. By adding a spoonful of chopped candy directly to the batter and layering another layer of M&Ms on top, you’ll get bursts of flavor in every bite.
Not only do these cookies look cute and festive, they’re delicious. Kids love dipping these beauties in milk or making their own cookie ice cream sandwiches. The possibilities are delicious!
Tips for Perfect Easter Cookies
Prepare. Preheat oven to 350°F
dough. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the white sugar, brown sugar, butter and oil. Add eggs to butter mixture, one at a time, beating until fluffy. Add baking powder, salt, baking soda, vanilla and flour. Blend until combined.
M&M’s. Add any amount of chopped M&Ms and ½ c white chocolate chips.
scoop. Scoop the dough and roll into balls. Add 5 full M&Ms to the top center of each dough ball. Add some white chocolate chips on top.
bake. Bake for 7-8 minutes. Cool on a baking sheet.
perfect picture: If you notice the picture of the process below, it shows the cookie dough before I put them in the oven. After I scooped the ball of dough onto the cookie sheet, I added 5 M&Ms and about 4 white chocolate chips to the top center of the dough ball. As the dough bakes, it spreads out and the toppings spread evenly over the top, making them look nice and pretty!
Giveaway: These lovely cookies make a great gift for someone you love and admire. I like to put some green crepe paper in a container to make it look like grass and put the cookies on top. No matter how you wrap them, recipients will love them!
cookie variant
Not only are these cookies made for Easter, they taste great too. Having said that, one of my favorite things to do when baking is to change things up and see what happens. Here are a few things I’ve tried in the past that have produced slightly different cookies but still delicious.
- To make them more chewy: The easiest way to make these more chewy is to change up the brown sugar. You can use dark brown sugar instead of light. You can also reduce the amount of white sugar and increase the amount of brown sugar.
- for a flatter cookies Reduce the amount of flour.
- for a thicker cookies Keeping its shape, you can add more flour. You can also cool the dough before baking.
- Using Almond Extract instead of vanilla
- If you like Your cookies are crunchy, Replace an equal amount of brown sugar with white sugar. You can also melt the butter completely before mixing.
storage tips
One of the best things about these Easter cookies is that they shop a few days.Store them in an airtight container with a piece of white bread to help them stay soft and they will last Leave at room temperature for 4-5 days.
you can also freeze They come in a freezer safe container up to 3 months.
store the dough, Cover the bowl, reserving the dough Up to 3 days in the refrigerator Before scooping and baking.
For longer storage, scoop dough balls (I don’t add extra M&Ms and chocolate chips to the top as they tend to fall out in the fridge) and line them on a baking sheet. Place the sheets in the refrigerator until they are firm, then transfer them to a freezer-safe container. Dough balls can be frozen for up to 3 months.
Let them defrost on a baking sheet for about 20 minutes. If you like, you can add extra M&Ms and chips on top before baking.
