According to The Sun, the Shamrock Shake has been available for purchase at McDonald’s outlets across Ireland since February 2.

Many people may be surprised to learn that the Shamrock Shake has actually been available in various McDonald’s locations since the 1970s. The Shake’s official page on the company’s website explains how the Shamrock Shake was invented in 1967 by franchise owner HalRosen.

McDonald’s Shamrock Shake® will return on Feb. 19, marking the 50th anniversary of the legendary treat.

McDonald’s first started selling the Shamrock Shake in 1970. Over the years, the burger chain has brought back the original as well as variations like the “Shamrock Sundae” in 1980, a chocolate version in 2017 and the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry in 2020. The Shamrock Shake first went on sale nationally in 2012.

The iconic Shamrock Shake will be available at the restaurant chains for a limited period of time, starting on February 21, 2022. Selected McDonald’s chains will offer the drink to the fans to get into the holiday spirit ahead of St. Patrick’s Day, which will be celebrated on March 17, 2022.
